The Mission of the Wisconsin SFI® Implementation Committee (WI SIC) is to promote and enhance SFI and sustainable forestry practices within Wisconsin through grassroots collaboration with stakeholders, partners, and those who benefit from managed forests. With a focus on SFI’s core SIC priorities, the WI SIC ensures that forests and their many benefits will perpetuate into the future.
Our Mission at Wisconsin SIC

Core Priorities
-
Forest Professional Education & Training
These initiatives provide education and training for forestry professionals (e.g., loggers, wood transporters, foresters, technicians) in areas consistent with the Wisconsin SFI® Training Standard (core and continuing education).
-
Forestry Research
These initiatives recognize the importance of advancing sustainable forest management through forestry research, innovation, development of evidence-based approaches and application of cutting-edge technologies that align with SFI® principles and promote the long-term health and vitality of forest ecosystems.
-
Private Non-Industrial Forestry Outreach
These initiatives are aimed at providing education, resources, and support to private landowners engaged in non-industrial forest management activities. These efforts recognize the importance of engaging and empowering private forest owners to practice sustainable forestry on their lands.
-
Public & Educational Outreach
These initiatives demonstrate the promotion of sustainable forestry through education and public outreach. Fostering a better understanding of sustainable forest management principles and practices ensures the long-term conservation of forests and the responsible use of forest resources.
-
Inconsistent Practices
Public inquiries regarding the inconsistent practices process is a crucial aspect of the certification program outlined in the SFI® 2022 Standards and Rules. This process is designed to address concerns and complaints from individuals and organizations regarding potential inconsistencies in the implementation of the SFI®Forest Management.
-
Protect the Integrity of the SFI® Program
Ensuring the proper use of the SIC service mark, with a commitment to promptly reporting any improper communications or misleading claims to SFI, Inc., and a strong emphasis on preventing the appearance of participation or compliance by non-SFI Program Participants to uphold the integrity and standards of the SFI® Program.
